2016 Album of the Year

I've done a AOTY list for as long as I can remember. But living out of a car broke my rhythm I guess. I didn't have the time or patience to do a full write up but figured I'd still put together a list of my favorite albums and EPs. 2016 was a crazy year for music and it was tough to narrow it down to 20 or so release, but I gave it a shot. What was your favorite release of this year? Did you hear anything on here that you just weren't a fan of? Is there something I slept on that I still need to hear? Let me know!

TBP Listens: Shorebreak - Fall

Shorebreak is a pop punk band from my home town of East Islip, New York.  I've known most of the guys for close to eight years and have had a front row seat to the evolution of their sound.  Last month we saw the band release the first single off of their new EP, Misdirection.  I think it's safe to say that I'm not the only one who was caught off guard with this track.  Shorebreak comes right out of the gate with a killer catchy pop punk track in the vein of State Champs, Stickup Kid, and The Story So Far.  A pretty sizable change in sound from their last EP, Displacement, which drew comparisons to early 2000s pop punk, as well as, current bands like Such Gold.

I was lucky enough to get an early listen of Misdirection and I can promise you it will not disappoint.  While we wait for Friday's official release, we have another single off the EP titled Fall for you to check out.  Check out the video below and click the link below for a free download.  Be sure to let us know what you think and be sure to pick up Misdirection for free this Friday, December 18th via their Bandcamp.  The release show for Misdirection will be on February 5th at Amityville Music Hall and more info can be found here.

TBP Listens: Vol IV - ABSCXND3NCE Guest Mix

I met Dan years ago through the local hardcore scene.Over time we've always enjoyed our side conversations that typically revolved electronic and ambient music.About a year ago he started releasing some music under the name ABSCXND3NCE.Over the past few months his sound has evolved dramatically and I could tell our tastes were heading in similar directions. It seemed like a logical decision to reach out to Dan and see if he'd want to contribute to the TBP Listens Series.Within two hours of reaching out I had a fully functional WAV file sitting in my email ready to be posted.Be sure to check the mix below, followed by one of his most recent singles, "Beneath."
