I first met Joe Nolan in 2006. He was booking local punk shows and I was attending them. After a while he took me on as a designer to do all of his show fliers. Years and years passed and we spent countless hours working together, designing, scheming, collaborating. Over the past year and a half or so Joe has built what I consider a pretty substantial following for his rustic lifestyle blog Oak-N-Iron. I couldn't tell you who approached who first but after spending the past eight years working together and bouncing ideas off of each other we decided it would be a really fun to merge The Beaten Path with Oak-N-Iron for a camping-themed capsule collection. Both of us grew up camping all over the Northeast with our families and I'd like to think we're both pretty on top of our survival skills. We spent most of 2014 developing the Trailwear Collection, a line that consists of a cap, tees and accessories that will assist in your next outdoor adventure.
The collection starts off with 3.6 oz. tri-blend tees that come in four colors. These tees are super soft with a slim fit, perfect for your morning run or a warm evening down by the lake. We sewed on each detail label in-house, and had our size tags screen printed for additional comfort. Each color tee is a limited run of 12 pieces.
Next we have our Trail Cap which is made from thick cotton canvas with a front leather patch and rear leather strap. One of my favorite parts of the trail cap is that you have the option of receiving the cap waxed. You have the option of buying a cap that we hand wax with premium Otter Wax brand fabric wax before sending it off to you. A waxed canvas cap is almost completely water proof and will do a great job keeping your head dry next time you're hiking your favorite trail on a drizzley day. Our Standard Issue Trail Cap is limited to 30 pieces while the Premium Waxed Trail Cap is limited to 10.
To round out the collection we have some really cool accessories like our 13 oz. stoneware mugs, drink koozies, trail rags and leather keychains. We made sure all of these pieces work as complimentary items to our two staple pieces for the collection, ultimately existing as one cohesive line of camping essentials.
We hope you all enjoy the collection as much as we do. Stay on the lookout for Oak-N-Iron to release his online store with some awesome custom pieces in the beginning of 2015. As for me, you can check back here in about a month or two to see what's cooking for the Winter Collection, due to release toward the end of November.
